Prendergast (Maurice) is born in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Maurice Prendergast arrives in Boston with his family in 1868, and lives at 86 West Dedham Street. Prendergast attends Rice Grammar School, works in a hardware store and then as a commercial artist and travels to Europe with his older brother Charles in 1886. He and his brother return to Boston, then move to New York in 1914. Maurice Prendergast dies in New York on February 24, 1924.
